World Environment Day

Tuesday, June 5, 2018

World Environment Day is, by now, a well-known appointment in the environmental calendar. In 1972 the General Assembly of the United Nations designated 5 June to this event and, since then, it has been celebrated annually as an important reminder to humanity. Every year the UN chooses a particularly pressing environmental theme: in 1974 it was “Only One Earth”, last year “Connecting People to Nature”.

This year, the theme of the day is “Beat Plastic Pollution”.

SOP feels very strongly about pollution by plastic and packaging in general. For this reason, we at SOP consider, the careful choice of packaging type and the reduction of the environmental impact fundamental and we strive towards the use of less and less material (and thus packaging) so as to be able to always offer “more with less”.

Being able to substitute, for example, the use of large quantities and sacks of urea with a small 200g box of product has important repercussions in terms of pollution, not only for the water table and harvest, but also for transport and, naturally, the use and disposal of the packaging!

“What we are doing is just a drop in the ocean. But the ocean would be less because of that missing drop.”

(Mother Teresa of Calcutta)
