Hubert told us, "the straw reserve was becoming lower and lower and I really
didnt know how to cope with the reduced availability of the straw and at the
same time keep the SCC and the mastitis down.
I began to use SOP C COW on
the bedding and I have reduced straw consumption by 2.4 tonnes to 1.2
tonnes, that is, by half! I have
also prolonged the life of the bedding.
Instead of cleaning out every 10
days as usual, I removed the bedding, for the first time, after a month and a
half, then, the second time, after 2 and a half months.
The manure has
a different appearance. It is much more decomposed and seems much older than
just 6 months. I also cant smell the unpleasant odours and ammonia in the
barn and around the compost heap, any more."
